This is the drawing tool in video analysis, for annotating footage. The training library has a separate one for diagramming exercises — see Draw an exercise.
Annotations are drawn on a clip and play with it, so a run or a passing option moves with the video instead of sitting still on a frozen frame. Animations are created and edited on larger devices; on a phone they are visible and only minimally adjustable.
Record a clip
Open the video in the video library.
Start recording, then use Stop recording to end the clip. Give it a title and description if you want it to be findable later.
Click Save.
Animate an asset
Move to the point in the clip where the animation should start.
Pick an asset from the toolbar on the left side of the video — a spotlight or a circle, for example — and position it.
Step the video forward a little and reposition the asset. Repeat for as long as the animation should run: each reposition becomes a point the asset travels between.
Play the clip back from its start to see the animation as a viewer will.
Timing and playback
Duration sets how long an annotation holds, and Resume controls what happens after — setting the duration to zero seconds disables the automatic resume, so the video waits for you. Pause, High speed and Slowmotion change the playback speed while you work.
Change or remove an annotation
Select an annotation to reposition or retime it. Deleting one asks Remove this annotation? first. Tags attaches players to a clip, which is what makes it findable from a player's profile rather than only from the video.
