Create development goals

Set a specific thing a player is working on, and track it to completion.

A development goal is something specific a player is working on — "get better at heading", "make the near-post run" — tracked on their profile with a progress bar that either of you can move.

Create a goal

  1. Open the player's profile and go to Development > Performance reviews.

  2. In the goals list, click Add goal.

  3. Fill in Goal title — the field suggests "Eg. get better at heading" — and a Description if the title needs explaining.

  4. Pick a Type of goal: General, Physical, Technical, Tactical, Mental or Social.

  5. Click Create goal.

The type is how goals get grouped and compared later, so it is worth picking deliberately rather than leaving everything as General.

Track progress

Each goal carries a progress bar that moves in steps of 10%. Both the coach and the player can move it — the point is that they agree on where it has got to, not that one of them reports to the other.

At 100% the goal completes itself and moves out of Active goals. You do not mark it done separately.

See completed goals

Completed goals are hidden by default. Show completed goals reveals them with the count, and Hide completed goals puts them away again. They stay on the record either way — completing a goal does not delete it.

Change or remove a goal

Open a goal's menu for Edit goal or Delete goal. Deleting asks "Delete this goal?" and is permanent, so drag the progress to 100% instead if the goal was met — that keeps the history.

Where goals show up

  • On the player's own profile, so they can see what they are working on without asking.

  • To their parents, on the child's profile. An empty list reads "There are no development goals for your child yet."

  • Alongside performance reviews, which is why both live under the same tab — see How to create a performance review for coaches.

Troubleshooting

  • The list is empty and says "Set up goals to track individual progress!" That is the empty state, not an error. Add goal starts the first one.

  • A goal disappeared. It reached 100% and moved to the completed list. Use Show completed goals.

  • The progress bar will not move to an exact number. It moves in tens by design. There is no free-text percentage.
