Updating a subscription

Edit the products, price, discount, installment count, or charge settings on an active subscription — and what you can't change without cancelling and recreating it.

Open a subscription, click Actions → Edit, and change the products, prices, discount, installment count, or charge settings. The new values apply from the next billing cycle.

You can't change the billing date or the recipient. Both are fixed at creation. If either needs to change, cancel the existing subscription and create a new one with the correct values.

Open the edit screen

  1. Go to Payments → Subscriptions and open the subscription.

  2. Click Actions → Edit.

What you can change

  • Products and prices — add or remove products, change quantities, or switch to a different price for the same product.

  • Discount — apply or remove a discount code.

  • Installment count — only on installment subscriptions. The remaining amount is split evenly across the new count from the next invoice.

  • Days until due — under Advanced options, how long invoices stay open before they're marked past due (1–365 days).

  • Auto-charge customer — toggle whether new invoices are charged automatically (Adyen) or sent for manual payment.

What you can't change

  • The billing date. If you need a different date, cancel and recreate the subscription.

  • The recipient (customer). Same — cancel and recreate, targeting the new contact.

  • One-off products can't be added to a subscription. Subscriptions only accept recurring products.

  • Products with a different billing cycle can't be mixed in (e.g., a yearly product can't be added to a monthly subscription).

When changes take effect

Changes apply to the next invoice generated by the subscription. Already-issued invoices are not modified — handle those separately (refund, void, or mark uncollectible).
